Another goal from Benjamin Cescó justifies joining Manchester United

Another goal from Benjamin Sesko gave United a 1-0 win over Everton on Monday 23 February.

Manchester United currently sit fourth in the Premier League standings with 48 points from 27 games. The Red Devils have won five of their six games since Michael Carrick took over as interim manager and are one of the best in form in the league.

Benjamin Sesco scored in the 71st minute to pave the way for Manchester United’s victory. The Slovenian striker has been justifying his signings since Carrick took over. He is one of the most in-form forwards in the league right now.

Benjamin Sesco goal: Comes off the bench again to make an immediate impact

Bryan Mbeumo started as the Red Devils’ number 9 on Monday night, with Sesko starting another game on the bench. However, he later came on as a substitute and scored the winning goal, just as he had earlier scored against West Ham United to snatch a point.

Benjamin Cesc’s goal against Everton took his tally to eight in 24 games this season, which is a decent return, especially considering he doesn’t start often for the club and has had a slow start to the season.

Carrick certainly provided some valuable input as well, which has made Sesco even better under the Englishman. Whatever the reason, United fans won’t complain.

Will Cesco continue to be a super sub?

Despite Benjamin Cesko’s goal against Everton, the Slovenian is not guaranteed to start for the Red Devils. This is simply because Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo are each in excellent form.

Mbemo is the only United player to reach double figures for goals this season, despite having only played 23 games so far. Cunha has scored six goals and provided two assists in 26 games, displaying an outstanding work rate for the club. Amad has performed so well as a right-winger that Mbeumo has been starting as a center forward rather than on the right.

Therefore, despite Benjamin Cesc’s goal against Everton, he should also start as a substitute in United’s next game. So far, it remains a shame as it gives the Slovenian less time to impress as a striker.

Tough race ahead

The Red Devils will face Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace are a dangerous team despite their recent form.

United face Newcastle United and Aston Villa in their next two league matches. Newcastle and Villa are both expected to finish in the Premier League’s top eight before the end of the season. In fact, Villa are vying for one of the Champions League spots next season.

Therefore, it should be difficult for Carrick to maintain good form in the next three games. If he is to do that, Sesco will have to continue his good form up front. With his ability, there shouldn’t be much difficulty in doing this.
