The Premier League match between Manchester City and Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, November 9, ended with the home team winning 3-0.
Manchester City’s game against Liverpool was a one-sided affair, and the Reds’ score would have looked even more humiliating if Haaland hadn’t missed a penalty in the first half.
Haaland made up for it later, scoring City’s first goal. Jeremy Doku and Nico Gonzalez also scored to help the City Citizens complete the rout. Pep Guardiola’s side currently have 22 points from 11 games, meaning they are four points behind Arsenal at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, Liverpool suffered their fifth defeat in their past six league games and are currently eighth in the Premier League with 18 points from 11 games.
This was Guardiola’s 1,000th game as head coach and he couldn’t have asked for a better performance from his team.
Manchester City vs Liverpool: An extremely one-sided game
The City Citizens easily won the match between Manchester City and Liverpool. Normally a match between two true title challengers wouldn’t be this one-sided. However, at no point did Liverpool have any hope of winning the game. The Reds had seven shot attempts, while City had 17.
City struck repeatedly down the left wing, with Jeremy Doku tormenting Connor Bradley with his quick runs. Doku successfully cut into the Liverpool penalty area from the inside left and won a penalty kick for the home team.
Haaland missed the chance but then City right-back Matheus Nunez delivered a perfect cross and the Norwegian headed the ball beautifully into the corner of the net. This is Haaland’s 19th goal of the season, and it quickly became inevitable that he would score in a game.
Jeremy Doku’s goal came in the second half with a lovely strike and was well deserved. The Belgian winger put in his best performance of the season and made life difficult for Liverpool’s defence. Jeremy Doku’s outstanding performance was a highlight of the game.
Liverpool never looked dominant, but Townsfolk’s ability to create brisk movement through quick passes repeatedly broke through their defense. City were quick on the counter-attack and would play a pass now and again to set up brisk movement.
Florian Wirtz has all but disappeared again, with no goals and just three assists in 16 games so far this season. Alexander Isak has not been a regular and, to make matters worse, Liverpool’s midfield looks decidedly second-best against quality opposition.
So Arne Slot isn’t finding his job easy at the moment. His side have lost seven of their last 10 games, and even their recent 1-0 win at home against mighty Real Madrid in the Champions League now looks like an anomaly.

Will Slaughter’s job be immune from any scrutiny this season?
Slott won the Premier League title in his first season as Reds manager and became a favorite among Liverpool fans. However, his team’s performance this season has been disappointing at best. As champions of England, losing so many games is simply unacceptable.
The Dutch coach is now feeling the pressure, and more importantly, his team is playing mediocre football. At this rate, they won’t even finish in the top four of the Premier League table, let alone win the Premier League title.
Slaughter has to find ways to change the way his team plays because the current setup simply isn’t working.
