I’m not a person with the New Year’s resolution, but what I’m going to do more in 2024 is (on social media, not the streets on the streets – which is weird) inspirational women who embrace middle age.
I’m not a master who says “looking in the mirror and thinking about positive things.” I’m talking about women, who are sharing positive narratives about aging and accessible ways to make themselves feel good.
I’m 51 years old (pretending to hear “No! Really?” in the distance), so this is the subject near my heart. I also worked as a personal stylist with many middle-aged women and learned that this is a tricky time in our lives.
It is no surprise when we read articles that tell us that we can’t wear certain clothes (according to this article in the Daily Mail), we feel that we feel that the fashion industry has been overlooked by the fashion industry for many years.
Now, I’m not an expert, but over the past few years I’ve learned some key insights through my work and my own experience. So if you don’t need some FAFF guidance on your mid-term journey, click the button below to read 10 things I’ve found: –
1. Nothing like “dress up your age”
It feels great to wear anything, although it goes without saying that it has to be suitable for your day ahead. Don’t avoid the styles you like because you think they are “too young”. Instead, you are your own unique style and clothes that suit your body shape. Personal style is unique but not eternal. For more tips on how to design shapes, you can sign up for my free guide here.
2. Style swing is normal
I have them, yes, I really did! Although I am generally happy with the closet, sometimes I need to try many different outfits to get the look right. In these cases, taking the time to plan outfits is key.
3. Improve your style can improve your mood
The clothes you wear will affect your mood, which is a scientific fact. By choosing clothes you like, making you feel great and you can put yourself in a positive mind. So before you find the first piece of clothing, think about how it will affect your mood.
4. Bright colors are a tonic
I know how easy it is to get to dark colors when you feel “Meh”. What you are actually doing is to hide subconsciously and make yourself invisible. Choosing vibrant color outfits will enhance your mood and ensure you stand out as much as possible.
5. Accept your waistline will expand
Few women don’t have to deal with the ever-expanding waistline of middle-aged people. The main reason is to lower estrogen levels, and women aged between 45 and 55 have increased by about half a kilogram each year. A recent client felt she was wearing nothing but elastic tight jeans, although she really wanted to update the style. During our shopping trip we purchased modern straight-leg jeans with elastic waistbands. She was happy with the new style look, but was also comfortable. There are solutions there, so you don’t need to hide behind loose, invisible clothes.
6. Beware of polyester
The current trends in recycling polyesters may be more environmentally friendly, but they will still tilt you more than natural fibers. Choose cotton, linen, bamboo and merino wool, especially for tops as they breathe. No one wants to deal with the sweat under their arms.
7. Loafers are not for everyone
Don’t choose styles just because this is a hot trend. I love Loafers, but haven’t found a pair that works for me. They make my chunky calves look heavier, and I feel like I feel more likable in the police station drama, and I am fine with that. Choose something that suits you and don’t be lingered by the trend.
8. Can be viewed with the best light
It is not trivial to perform best. Feeling good in your image and taking it seriously is not mutually exclusive. Actually, I would say the opposite. When you feel good, you are more likely to react positively to you. Note that looking the best and seeking perfection are two things. Remember that for every image you post on social media, hundreds are discarded because the topic doesn’t look the best.
9. Looking for people who are the styles you appreciate
Over the past year, I have been following more middle-aged women who admire their style. To me, those women are bending the rules of 50-year-olds, but still real and natural. Are my clothes the same as them? No, but they do affect me not being too safe, like buying a bright lilac coat instead of a wise navy or black. It is important to get some external influence to keep your style fresh and modern. It’s also important to unfollow people who make you feel inadequate! Watch this video for tips on how to get inspiration to refresh your style.
10. “Expert” Menopause Cream is a bunch of C**P!
I found this to be difficult! It’s obvious now that “menopausal” is not a skin type, but I’m fascinated by the marketing hype. It is said that the global menopause market is worth more than $600 billion, and with it immoral companies. I recommend you do your own research or talk to an independent expert before purchasing.
