Sorry, sorry, mom’s potty, but “I want to look like I’m together!” is a recent request from a client that I’ve heard a lot over the years. It’s a simplistic way to say “I want to look confident, professional and competent in my role”. Who doesn’t want to look like that? I know I want to!
Spring is here, which means that if you are not already together, you will no longer hide under a winter coat or a lazy jumper. In addition to lighter nights and warmer (ISH) weather, conferences, drinks and other social occasions are invited, so now is a good time to focus on your look and style. To help you, I’m sharing my five ways to try and test the following: –
5 tips to help you look like shing your own together: –
1. Check your diary
Note what you will do in the next few weeks. Think about occasions of size and size, especially what you will do most days. It is common to spend a lot of time focusing on a game, but the clothes you wear every day are just as important – and even more!
2. Edit in your wardrobe
Change your wardrobe in the new season and evaluate what you must wear. Get rid of anything worn, tear or unfit. Once done, you will find it easier to see what you have and any potential gaps. Take a note of the clothes you have to wear on all the days in your diary and write a dedicated shopping list for whatever you are missing.
3. It’s real
If you feel like you, you are more likely to look confident and together. I often see a huge difference between what clients feel they should wear on their work clothes and what they like to wear on weekends. Bring your personal style into your work clothes by paying attention to what you like to wear. For example, if you wear a lot of colors on the weekend but have a closet filled with dark shades, it will bring color to your work clothes.
4. organize
Take some time now to sort your wardrobe and you can save you time and money in the long run. Don’t wait until the event is imminent or wear those clothes that feel tired and past. Plan your outfit in advance so you can avoid the last-minute “I don’t wear anything!” panic. If you need to shop, be sure to make a list of your focus and be interested in shopping.
5. Trust your intuition
We’ve all been there and put on clothes that don’t feel quite right, you can’t stretch your fingers out, but you feel out of place all day. When you are well dressed, trust your intuition and how the clothing really makes you feel. A piece of clothing that looks great, feels good and makes you feel comfortable can get you in an instant mood and confidence.
Remember, the purpose is to feel good enough, not perfect. Real-life outfits aren’t like most social media posts. If you don’t have a perfect match tote, the latest “must have” accessories or salon blow-dry hair, that’s OK. Spring is the ideal opportunity to refresh your style and inject a new life into your wardrobe. Take action now will make sure you look like spring and beyond sh*t together.
